With Help FromPost a listing

Help a cause. Get credited, with a link.

Nonprofits, schools and youth leagues post what they need. Businesses post what they can give. Every organization on this board credits its supporters on its own website.

The point is more good deeds, and credit for the businesses that do them.

How it works

  1. 1. An organization posts what it needs, and the page where it credits supporters.
  2. 2. A business picks one, gets in touch, and does the deed.
  3. 3. The organization credits the business on its website with a link. Either side reports the deed and we publish the story.

Why this exists

Small businesses do more quiet good than anyone notices. A credit on the organization's website, with a link, is the fairest thank-you there is: it costs the organization nothing, it sends people to a business that earned it, and it lasts. Most businesses never ask for it. It is a two-minute email, and we wrote it for you.

The idea came from a roofer who donated a roof through his local Habitat for Humanity chapter and got a link, a news story and 200 shares for it. Edward Sturm told that story on his podcast, and this board went up the same day. Thank you, Edward. More on the about page.

Questions

Is this buying links?
No. Nobody pays anyone here. A business helps an organization, and the organization thanks it on its website the way sponsors have always been thanked. We do not sell listings or placement, and organizations are not allowed to sell credits.
Does an organization have to give a link?
Organizations that post here say they credit supporters on their website with a link. That is their promise to the businesses that help them, not a contract with us. We show whether their supporters page already links out, so businesses can judge for themselves.
What counts as a credit?
A mention on the organization's website with a link to the business: a sponsors page, a partners page, a news post about the project. A name in a photo caption or a printed programme is nice, but it is not what this board is for.
What if the organization never credits us?
Send the two-minute email first; most simply forgot. If it still does not happen, tell us. Organizations with confirmed credits sort higher, and ones that never credit get quietly demoted.
Can a business just donate money?
Yes, sponsorship is normal. But goods, services, expertise and volunteer time work better here: they read as real marketing to everyone, including search engines, and they make a better story.
Why is an organization marked unclaimed?
We added it from public information because its website already credits supporters. It has not agreed to anything. Contact it through its own site, and if you work there, claim the listing.
Who reviews listings?
A person reads every listing, claim and deed report before it goes live, usually within a day. See the about page for exactly what we check.
What does it cost?
Nothing, for either side, and that will not change.

House rules

  • Listing is free for everyone, and stays free.
  • We look at each organization's supporters page and show how many supporters it already credits. Organizations whose page links to their listing are marked verified and sort first.
  • Some organizations are listed from public information and marked unclaimed. Contact them through their own site, or claim the listing if it is yours.
  • Credits are for real help given. Nobody sells links here, and nobody is owed one.
